We strive to provide recreation services for individuals of all abilities, operating from a strengths-based perspective. Our goal is to encourage each participant to attain their highest level of independent functioning by increasing leisure awareness, introducing and building a variety of skills, and promoting active engagement in the Alamance community. Example programs include Special Olympics, Visually Impaired Program (VIP), Adapted Rec, ETC. We also encourage inclusive programming to showcase individuals of all abilities.

As stated above, in the past, we have reached out to various police departments, fire departments, highway patrol, parks and recreation, etc., to see if they would be willing to create a team(s) for our tournament. We partner each team with a few of our Special Olympic basketball team athletes for a tournament (Tournament style and number or games is determined by the amount of teams that sign up). Each team will get a t-shirt and there will be pizza and snacks.

What will it look like?

  • 5 Player teams
  • 5v5 Games
  • $100.00 Entry fee/team
  • Teams will be provided a shirt to wear.
